If you are thinking of quitting smoking cigarettes then you must know how bad they are for you and those around you and I applaud your decision. You have also probably heard many nightmare tales of how hard it is to quit which may be scary and demotivating. To help you kick your addiction to cigarettes and the addictive component nicotine here are 10 tips and ways to quit smoking cigarettes that can show you it can be done and it is not as hard as people can make it out to be if you have a plan!

1. Write a list of reason you LIKE smoking

It may seem counter to your needs to quit smoking but ignoring why you like smoking and why you continue to smoke is important so that psychologically you can overcome these things or leave them behind or replace them with something. Ignoring them simply means when cravings hit those reasons subconsciously attack your reasoning and resolve.

2. Make a list of reasons it will be hard to quit

Wow, I sound so negative so far which I am sorry for but bear with me! Honesty is massive part of overcoming an addiction to nicotine and cigarettes because many people try to quit without being honest with themselves first and those people usually fail on that attempt. So write down a list of reasons you think might make it hard to quit or the reasons you know from experience have made it harder.

3. Write a list of reasons you want to quit

Ok now we are getting more positive! Again HONESTY is the big word here for the same reason stated before. You need as many solid positive reasons for quitting cigarettes so that these ways to quit smoking cigarettes work! HINT: List them in a positive way so instead of writing “Scared of lung cancer” write “I want to be healthy and live a long life!” … negative reasons are not as strong as positive ones.

4. Write down a list of ways to tackle cravings

When the cravings hit all reasoning and resolve can suddenly go out the window as you may already have experienced and is not something to be ashamed of. You just need a way to overcome these things, having something to distract you from the cravings is a very important things to do whether it is to get your joggers on and hit the pavement or if you are at work to maybe chew some gum, get a coffee or clean up your office space.

5. Compare lists

Now you have a few sheets of paper (or for some people nearly a book!) you can compare your negative and positive reasons. This is important because often if you have more reasons you like smoking compared to reasons you want to quit smoking cigarettes then you may not be ready to quit and might need to find some more reasons and support to quit. Also if your list of things to do to overcome cravings do not have an answer to all your reasons why quitting might be hard then you may need to revisit the former list and add to it. Once you have done this not only have you been introspective enough to see things clearly and plan ahead you have created the base work for a contract with yourself to quit which is a cornerstone of quitting cigarettes for good.

6. Set a quit date

Having firm goals is important when dealing with addictions and when looking for ways to quit smoking cigarettes this is a vital step. Having a set date you set for yourself and can plan for means you will not make snap decision when you are not ready and you will also force yourself to commit to a date than a vague “I will quit next week” then that week never seems to come …

7. Throw out all smoking paraphernalia

Get rid of them when that quit date hits! Get rid of your smokes, if you hold on to any cigarettes it is a temptation and a subconscious easy way out .. if you are serious break the fags and toss them out, if you can’t do that you are not ready to quit. Also get rid of lighters and anything else that has to do with smoking in your space.

8. Busy your hands and mouth

One part of the addiction to cigarettes that people ignore in favor of concentrating on the dependency effects of nicotine is the habit that has formed over many years of the actual ACTION of smoking. IF you carry some toothpicks you can suck on or some nuts you can crack open and eat you will busy your hands looking for a familiar action, no need for anything terribly elaborate just keep them busy or they may stray to a cigarette.

9. State your intention to quit smoking cigarettes

Tell your friends, tell your family and tell your co-workers that you plan to quit smoking cigarettes for a two reasons. One, you need a support network to help you so it is good to get as many well wishers and helpers as you can. Two if you are not announcing it does not become REAL to you and is less substantial because it is like you are a keeping a secret often as many do not want the stigma of people knowing they failed if it comes to that which is just another excuse!

10. Stay Positive, Quit positive

Research has shown that those that quit when in a good and positive mood stand a much greater chance of achieving their goal. IF you plan to quit and map out your ways to quit smoking cigarettes while under stress of when depressed it does not bode well as a negative reason as has been mentioned is no where near as strong as positive ones!

This list may only scratch the surface of all the challenges and ways to quit that you may need to kick your habit for you particular situation. If you want to be armed with all the tools & information that can give you every chance to be smoke free forever click below to find out more.

http://www.kick-addiction.com/nicotine-addiction/treatment/

By: Michael Porteous

Author

Healthy dis-tractors like reading a book, going for a walk, working in your garden, taking a deep breath, chewing gum, lifting weights, riding a bike, listening to music, drinking water.

6. Use Daily Affirmation and place in on your fridge, mirror, or at your desk. Say them to yourself 10 times each morning, afternoon, and evening. I am Happy, Healthy, and smoke-free, Everyday I choose to breathe fresh air into my lungs. Today I am a proud and healthy non-smoker.

7. Tell a Spouse, Friend, or co-worker that will hold you accountable If you are held accountable by someone else it may help you to quit. Signing a contract, may make it more official. Find a support group locally or online.

8. Daily Exercise. If you do not currently have an exercise regiment, start off by walking 10 minutes each day. This will help you release any daily stress.

9. In the beginning, reward your self each day with with a healthy and safe reward. This cold turkey method is highly effective especially when your body starts craving for nicotine.

For optimal results you should combine all these quit smoking cold turkey methods together and you’ll notice the real difference when quitting. Last but not least another popular quit smoking method is to see therapy or a quit smoking support group. Speaking with other smoking addicts who are quitting just like you can help you feel that you’re not alone. You can also speak with people who’ve already quit and are there for your moral support.

Support groups will benefit you in the long term because if you’re thinking of smoking again in about 6 months visit your quit smoking support group and they’ll be able to advise you.

Everyone age 20 and older should have their cholesterol measured at least once every 5 years. It is best to have a blood test called a “lipoprotein profile” to find out your cholesterol numbers. This blood test is done after a 9- to 12-hour fast and gives information about your total cholesterol, LDL (bad) cholesterol, HDL (good) cholesterol, and Triglycerides (another form of fat in your blood).

HDL (good) cholesterol protects against heart disease, so for HDL, higher numbers are better. A level less than 40 mg/dL is low and is considered a major risk factor because it increases your risk for developing heart disease. HDL levels of 60 mg/dL or more help to lower your risk for heart disease. Triglycerides can also raise heart disease risk. Levels that are borderline high (150-199 mg/dL) or high (200 mg/dL or more) may need treatment in some people.

Research has shown that these steps will help you to quit for good:

1. Pick a date to stop smoking

Before that day, get rid of all cigarettes, ashtrays, and lighters everywhere you smoke. Do not allow anyone to smoke in your home. Write down why you want to quit and keep this list as a reminder.

2. Get support from your family, friends, and coworkers

Studies have shown you will be more likely to quit if you have help. Let the people important to you know the date you will be quitting and ask them for their support. Ask them not to smoke around you or leave cigarettes out.

3. Find substitutes for smoking and vary your routine

When you get the urge to smoke, do something to take your mind off smoking. Talk to a friend, go for a walk, or go to the movies. Reduce stress with exercise, meditation, hot baths, or reading. Try sugar-free gum or candy to help handle your cravings. Drink lots of water and juices. You might want to try changing your daily routine as well. Try drinking tea instead of coffee, eating your breakfast in a different place, or taking a different route to work.

4. Talk to your doctor or nurse about medicines to help you quit

Some people have withdrawal symptoms when they quit smoking. These symptoms can include depression, trouble sleeping, feeling irritable or restless, and trouble thinking clearly. There are medicines to help relieve these symptoms.

The preferred quit smoking book online. If you smoke, or someone you care about still smokes, then this may be the most important letter you will ever read, because . . .

In less than 3 hours you can learn how to quit smoking – for life – from the comfort of your home – without patches, pills and gums, and, without gaining any weight or suffering a single major craving – fully guaranteed by one of the most trusted entrepreneurs on the internet (and a former 39-year smoker who quit by using this very program)!

In this quit smoking book, you will not have to spend hundreds of dollars buying medicines or supplements that will not help you quit smoking, neither will you need to put on patches, chew gums, swallow pills, use an inhaler, or ingest any other foreign substance. You will not have to follow any new and special diet, although we recommend the intervals at which you eat throughout the day and tell you one substance to avoid at all costs (we also want you to drink plenty of water). You will not have to start an extensive exercise program . . .

In fact, after you have read/listened to our program, about 3 hours, you just carry on with your normal routine only having to set aside a half hour or so per day for 3 weeks (or less) to listen to a special recording we made. Piece of cake! And more…

Testimonial:”I needed something to convince myself that after 35 years I could finally quit my 4-to-5-pack-a-day smoking habit. Yes, I chain smoked from morning until night and even woke up in the middle of each night to light up. I tried Zyban and the patch. What a joke! Ten minutes into The Quit Smoking Right Now Program I KNEW I was going to be able to quit. I remain tobacco-free over a year later. This program was a miracle in my life and my wife considers it even more than that!

I’m also saving over $250.00 a week that I spent on this killer habit! I highly recommend The Quit Smoking Right Now Program to anyone who wants to quit smoking once and for all!”

Jim Quarrington

Learn more on quit smoking book at:http://www.healthbeautyfitnessonline.com/quit-smoking-book.htm

If you have been searching for information related to health beauty fitness online, you will realise that you have many choices…At HEALTHBEAUTYFITNESS site, we singled out the most popular and best selling information resource for you. These are things you can do something about and they includes diet, weigth, and physical activities.

High Cholesterol and natural alternatives to overcome it…

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that occurs naturally in all parts of the body. This includes the nervous system, skin, muscle, liver, intestines, and heart. It is made by the body and also obtained from animal products in the diet. Your body needs some cholesterol to work properly. But if you have too much in your blood, it can stick to the walls of your arteries. This is called plaque. Plaque can narrow your arteries or even block them.

High levels of cholesterol in the blood can increase your risk of heart disease. Your cholesterol levels tend to rise as you get older. There are usually no signs or symptoms that you have high blood cholesterol, but it can be detected with a blood test. You are likely to have high cholesterol if members of your family have it, if you are overweight or if you eat a lot of fatty foods.

You can lower your cholesterol by exercising more and eating more fruits and vegetables. You also may need to take medicine to lower your cholesterol.

Cholesterol is manufactured in the liver for normal body functions, including the production of hormones, bile acid, and vitamin D. It is transported in the blood to be used by all parts of the body.

Natural alternatives – XKLWorldWide SkyFruit supplement.

Best Ways To Quit Smoking

Natural Ways To Quit Smoking Cigarettes

Here are the ways that can help you butt out! If you are one of the growing number of health-conscious people who want to quit smoking but find the effort a drag, below are some of expert ways that may help you over the hump.

1. Smoke up a storm several days before you make the break. Smoke so many cigarettes that when the day comes to quit, you can’t stand the thought of puffing an other fag.

2. Try to quit with a friend or, better still, a group of people you see often. Rest assured, you’ll benefit from their support in the early stages of your withdrawal.

3. In the first few days, avoid booze and coffee like the plague. They are the kissing kin to cigarettes. If you must drink, hold your glass with two hands to take your mind off the fact that you’re not holding a cigarette.

4. Keep your life busy! When the urge to smoke becomes too strong to resist, get up and move around, dash up a flight of stairs, walk around the block or take a shower.

5. When you get really uptight take a few deep breaths. It will relax you and give positive reinforcement because, almost immediately, you’ll find your lung capacity has improved dramatically.

6. Keep a lot of treats on hand. Sugarless gum is best, but if you must have sugar, suckers, hard candy or jelly beans will help you through the withdrawal stage.

I hope all these natural ways on how to stop smoking cigarettes here may be useful for anyone who try to quit it.

While most people are determined to know exactly how many times it takes to really quit. Getting a firm grasp on the number of tries that it will take is important. You might be confused as to what this information can actually do for you. It actually serves the purpose of setting you up to be confident as you approach the date when you need to quit smoking. If you have a grasp on the amount of time it could take you to quit, it will prevent you from feeling as a failure in the event that it takes you more than a single try. This is very important, because most people start to feel as if they just cannot quit after failing a single time.

The majority of people in all honestness to themselves usually take at least two attempts to successfully quit smoking. While most people would love to quit after a single attempt, it is usually necessary to have two attempts minimum. You might wonder exactly why two attempts are necessary but the answer is really simple. For the most part the first time people start trying to quit they have an attitude that tells them it is very simple. This tends to find most consumers completely off guard, especially since it is not as easy to quit smoking as you might imagine.

Breaking the addiction to nicotine is not easy, nor is it something that can always be done in a single attempt. If you are prone to trying to quit entirely on your own with no help you will often find that your chances of success are much lower. It is almost always necessary to obtain some form of help when you are trying to quit smoking in order to be successful. This is the primary reason why it typically takes a minimum of two tries to quit smoking. No matter how many attempts you may try, it is best to plan to quit for good anytime you attempt to quit.

Being aware of how difficult it really is to quit smoking is quite significant. If you are aware of the challenges you will be in a much better position because you will have the ability to create a plan to help you quit. Knowing the challenges that you face will also allow you to create a plan that is suitable based upon the precise reason that you smoke. For example, if you tend to smoke due to stress you should be aware of what causes you stress out and look for ways to avoid the stress.

If you have a plan created to help you quit smoking before your first attempt even begins you may find that you are able to quit after a single attempt. Not having a plan before you even attempt to quit will increase the chances that it takes several tries to be successful. Creating a plan to help you stop smoking is not impossible, it merely means you need to be able to identify the problems that you could experience in your attempt to quit smoking. This means if you simply sit down and create a plan to help you deter temptations and also avoid potential problems you will have a much better success rate.

Merely deciding to stop smoking at a whim will generally result in a series of problems. It is very important to take your time creating your plan so that you can successfully quit. Taking advantage of these small details in the plan that you create can go a very long way towards ensuring that you are ultimately successful. Just be certain that all of the small details of your plan are well organized. This means you really need to keep your confidence up, feeling as if you will not be successful can leave you creating a lot of problems. Avoiding problems is very important to ensure that you are able to quit with as few attempts as possible.

By: kylew

Author

Once a person develops the habit of smoking, it’s often very difficult to quit. Here are 10 Ways to Quit Smoking that I believe will help you focus your attention on a more healthy ‘life after cigarettes’.

One of the best pieces of advice I can offer is that you try to identify what causes you to want a cigarette in the first place. Take notes on your habits for a few days. The more aware you are of your other habits, the easier it will be to pinpoint your smoking ‘trigger’ (what tips the scale and makes you think you need a cigarette).

Some of these ways of smoking will be easy; others will require your constant focus and attention. I wish you the best of luck and sincerely hope one of these methods helps you banish your smoking habit forever.

1. Make a commitment (a promise) to yourself that you are going to quit. Don’t make the promise complicated; just plan to quit and keep your promise to yourself.

2. Write down all of the reasons you would like to quit on a piece of paper; keep it handy. Don’t forget that it’s an expensive, health threatening and mostly socially unacceptable pastime. On the flip side of the paper write out all of the benefits you’ll experience once you quit -such as easier breathing, clean smelling clothing and hair, and the relief your family will feel once you quit. Just the exercise of writing these reasons to quit and the expected benefits should make you feel empowered to quit.

3. Clean up your environment and rearrange your furniture at home and at home. As you already know, we are creatures of habit. If you are accustomed to sitting in your favorite chair at night to watch TV, and you leave an ashtray out, it could trigger a craving. Remove all potential cigarette reminders and all tobacco products from your home and office.

4. Sign up for regular exercise classes. When you start to get into shape, a very magical thing happens to the way you treat your body. Often times just beginning a regular exercise regimen will cause you to watch what you eat, get more sleep, and take better care of yourself overall. Consider taking small walks throughout the day, if you used to use smoking as your break time activity.

5. Make a conscious effort to avoid people and places that enable you to smoke easily. Nobody should subject themselves to needless temptation. These people and places should be relatively easy to identify.

6. If you are a nervous eater, plan the healthy snacks you will consume before you embark on your cigarette quitting journey. Many people smoke with the excuse that they believe it keeps them thin. If you are suddenly afraid you will over eat, you may be tempted to light up instead. I live in a dry climate and was used to drinking water, so water really helped me to quit.

7. Don’t sabotage your success by talking yourself into a cigarette. Sometimes when we are trying to make a major change in our habits, we can easily slip into the habit of justifying why we should break our new routine. Don’t tell yourself you need a cigarette because you had a really rough day. Take a walk instead. Call a friend. Do anything but break your new routine.

8. Let everyone know you are quitting. It will bolster your determination to meet your goal of stopping smoking. It’s quite possible your friends and family will be a source of support as you avoid temptation.

9. Be sure to set milestones for yourself and treat yourself. At one week, schedule a lunch out with a friend or family member and announce your success. At one month, plan a special event. Gents you could play a round of golf at your favorite course and ladies you could treat yourself to some spa time. Whatever you decide to do, congratulate yourself and keep treating yourself as you achieve each new milestone.

10. Quitting smoking is a mental game above all. Be sure you read literature about empowering yourself to make this change. You can surf the internet for free information, or you can purchase a self help program that will help you quit in a structured way.

By: Greg A.

The headaches will disappear if the smoker lights up a cigarette. After some time without the nicotine in their system, smokers tend to become very irritable. This condition can be a personality change for some people, and they run the risk of annoying others at home and at the office.

Eventually these smokers find their normal emotional stability, but this feeling of being angry causes some to return to their harmful habit. Smokers trying to quit become quite restless, and the attempt to quit smoking has an effect that makes their life miserable. They cannot accomplish their tasks at work, which can impact an entire organization. Smokers trying to quit might also experience feelings of depression and sadness. The thought that a cigarette could make them feel better tempts many people to give up their goal of kicking the habit.

Ultimately Positive Effects Outweigh Negative

Unfortunately, many smokers determined to quit the habit give up because, as they quit smoking, the negative effects are serious. They know that the positive effects start soon after they quit, but they just cannot do it. If they have the discipline, the positive effects will be fantastic. Smokers will have better vital signs such as lower blood pressure and reduced heart rate almost immediately. There has been research that shows their lungs will be in better shape one week after they quit smoking. The lungs will continue to improve unless the smoker already had a serious disease before they quit.

Those who quit smoking feel effects that are positive in all of their activities. They will have more energy and stamina to do their favorite activities. Smokers who quit will see improvement in their teeth and skin. If someone quits smoking, one effect that is positive is the improvement of taste. The quitters will taste all of the flavors of their food. Smokers will save money as a pack of cigarettes can cost up to four dollars. This can add up to more than a thousand dollars a year and what vacation might that buy?

By: Brian B

Author

If you want to quit smoking it can be very helpful to do a little preparation first. This preparation will allow you to preview the challenges ahead and it will give you a way to decide how to cope with those challenges before they become a problem. The idea is to learn to disassociate yourself entirely from nicotine and the feelings you might have for it while at the same time coping with nicotine withdrawl symptoms. A day or two of this type of preparation can mean the difference between success and failure.

Making Peace

For a lot of smokers, cigarettes are almost like little friends with personalities and human-like qualities. These “friends” have been with us through good times and bad and that bond that must be broken. To do this, you should really look at your cigarettes and analyze the entire smoking experience. You’ll discover that there is nothing magical about any of it and as much as you might love your cigarettes, they sure don’t love you back. You are emotionally attached to paper, tobacco, a filter, and some added chemicals and this makes no sense whatsoever. With that realization, you can begin to separate yourself from cigarettes and it will be that much easier for you to quit.

Trial Runs

A trial run isn’t really a quit attempt but rather it is a way to educate yourself about what to expect. It is very simple – you just go as long as you can without smoking and then when you finally do light up, you take note of what happened and why. For example, if you smoke when you go out then you know you need to stay home for a while. If you just couldn’t fight the nicotine fit any longer then you need to learn how to do that. If you light up just for something to do then you need to train yourself to find an alternative. This is a guilt-free way to quit without quitting and to gather all the facts you need to be successful. Knowledge is power and this knowledge can be very powerful indeed.

Arm Yourself

Your trial run should reveal what you’ll need help with when you quit. Some people need something to do with their hands, some people need to eat, other people just need a way to make it past the nic fits. If you think you’ll need something to munch on, go grocery shopping. If you think drinking a ton of ice water will help, make some ice cubes. If the sight of an ashtray gives you the shakes, throw them all away (do this anyway). Gather up everything you think you’ll need so you won’t be able to blame the lack of these items on your decision to give up and smoke.

Your Last Cigarette

Now that you are ready to quit there is the matter of that last cigarette. Savor it, enjoy it, smoke it nice and slow and when you are done you can put it out knowing that it was your last one. It can be extremely helpful to time it to coincide with your bedtime so you can go to bed satisfied and wake up 8 or 10 hours into your quit. Without even trying, you’ll already be about 1/3 through your first day!

By: Rich Danger

Author
